Your voice is the outward sound of your soul and who you are. I believe everyone has their own sound. To me, singing is as natural as speaking and is as necessary to the soul.
Every block of stone has a statue inside it, and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.
Everyone has a song within them, it just needs to find its way out.
Singing is relaxing, can convey emotions and tells a story. Singing is joy, community, celebration.
Through vocal coaching you will become aware of your breathing. You will enhance your speaking voice and your breath control, increase your vocal quality and projection. You will become aware of pitch, harmony, rhythm, tempo and dynamics.
My roots are in classical vocal training and choral music. I have participated in many choirs and groups over the past thirty years spanning a number of vocal and musical styles.
Working professionally as a language teacher, I’ve also taught primary school aged children and worked on Dramatic and musical productions in a community and an educational setting.
I’ve worked as a language teacher for 23 years and have taught students from 4- 64 years at various levels from true beginner to advanced.
I sing in choirs, perform at events and festivals for fun and dabble in amateur theatre and over the years have made many friends in both of these pursuits.
There is a large amount of research that shows learning a second language can fire you cognition in all areas, people who speak more than one language are also protected against degenerative illnesses such as Alzheimer’s Disease. Canberra is blessed to have the largest number of choirs per capita than any other Australian city. I have long-standing experience and contacts within the local choral community.
